The students of University of Benin(UNIBEN), has planned to riot against the school management for the unfair decision to expel the Student Union (SUG) officials for standing up against the 30% increment of the 2017/2018 school fees.
The school management expelled the Student Union (SUG), President, PRO and some other officials from the school.
The PRO, Ehiabhi Goodnews, speaking to Greennews, said ” this is simple an oppression against the powerless, because we didn’t destroy anything during our protest to reduce the fees.
“Our protest was peaceful and we are yet to understand the reason behind the school management action”.

Prior to the incident, the students refused to resume November, 2017, as announced by the school management as a form of protest against the school management,. But resumed January 15, 2018.
The news of the expulsion was announced to the students February 3 and the students are planning a protest against the school management for their decision.
The school management released a notice stating that the students had the intention of disrupting the 47th founders day and the 43rd Convocation ceremony of the school and the management punishment for each of the students.
