Osun pupils’ performance improving – Statistician-general

The Statistician-General of Osun State, Prof. Wasiu Gbolagade, has described the performance of primary and secondary school pupils in the state in public examinations as vastly improved.

The  Statistician-General of Osun State, Prof.  Wasiu Gbolagade, has described the performance of primary and secondary school pupils in the state in public examinations as vastly improved.

Gbolagade said this in a statement made available to our correspondent in Osogbo on Thursday, to support Governor Rauf Aregbesola’s claim that pupils in the state has been doing well in public examinations since he came into office.

The statistician-general noted that Osun had the second highest number of pupils in the country, who due to their excellent performance in O level examinations, were qualified enough to seek admission into tertiary institutions.

Observing from statistical records that Osun State had the highest number of candidates that were admitted into Nigerian Universities in 2014,  2015, 2016 and 2017,  he said, “ According to our database, the records show that in 2014, 12,882  male candidates and 11,202 female candidates, making a total of 24,084 candidates, were admitted in Nigerian universities and placing Osun State in the second position in the entire federation.
