(c) Analyze the concept of mutation as in molecular biology and genetics. (12 marks)

 

  1. With reference to evolutionary outcomes discuss the following: (i) adaptation (5 marks)

(ii) speciation (5 marks)

(iii) hybrid gender (5 marks)

 

  1. There are four fundamental processes governing population genetics, account for any three of them. (15 marks)

 

  1. (a) Distinguish between prokaryotes and Eukaryotes. (7 marks)

(b) Write short notes on allopatric speciation and peripatric speciation. (8 marks)

 

  1. (a) Outline the techniques that can be used to investigate polymorphism. (9 marks) (b) Briefly describe the mechanisms for balancing selection. (6 marks)

(b) Classify mutations by inheritance and special classes. (12 marks)
