Oba Lamidi Adeyemi, the Alaafin of Oyo, has called on the government at all levels to invest in schools sport.
The monarch, stated that the success of the nation in global competitions depends on how well talents from secondary schools are harnessed.
The Alaafin said this during the 41st inter-house sports competition of the Federal Government Girls’ College, Oyo.
He stated that sport had grown into a global industry and the government need to give it more attention and invest in them.
He added that for Nigeria to benefit from the growing sports industry beyond football, it was vital for the nation to invest in its grassroots sports.
