Lagelu old boys donate N200m for school rehabilitation

The Old Boys Association of Lagelu Grammar School has set aside over N200m for the rehabilitation of the school, ahead of its 60th Founders’ Day celebration.

The Old Boys Association of Lagelu Grammar School has set aside over N200m for the rehabilitation of the school, ahead of its 60th Founders’ Day celebration.

The donors, including Governor Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo State, said that through the joint effort of members of the association, blocks of classrooms in the school, as well as the administrative block, had been renovated.

The Chairman of the Planning Committee for the 60th Anniversary of the institution, Mr. Tony Aletor, said the association had also constructed an alumni centre with state-of-the-art equipment and renovated the school laboratories. He stressed that the road, which leads into the school had also been transformed into a dual carriageway.

He said that, as part of the activities marking the Founders’ Day celebration, members of the association had scheduled a visit to the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Saliu Adetunji, in his palace.

He stated that the association would also visit the founding principal of the school, Pa Ayo Labiyi, and some charity homes in the city.

“There will also be a career session where 100 former pupils will receive the Diamond Anniversary Distinguished Career Mentors and Achievers’ Awards in Corporate and Political Leadership. During the grand finale, Governor Ajimobi will deliver a key-note address,” he said.
