Prof. Adeolu Durotoye, the Provost, College of Social and Management Science, Afe Babalola University, Ado Ekiti, has pronounced the  sum of money borrowed by the Osun State Government to build new primary and secondary schools as a waste of resources.
Prof. Durotoye, who is aspiring for the governorship position in Osun said this in an interview in Osogbo.
He explained that, the state could spend N1.2bn to furnish and make all the public schools in the state conducive for learning.
He noted that, the state would have saved N30bn if the governor had opted for repair instead of demolishing many schools and building new structures there.
He added that the N30bn, would have just been used to pay up teachers outstanding salaries and provide teaching materials.
He explained that paying the teachers would encourage them to perform better in their duties and the effect would be seen on  the students
He noted that the  Osun state education sector is decaying and now ranked behind many states.
Prof. Durotoye said if elected as the Governor he would ensure that the teachers are well trained.
