As part of its efforts at bridging what it described as wide gap between the children of the poor and the rich, the Ambassador Olusola Sanu Foundation has pledged to sponsor university education of some students of the Christ Church College, Odinjo, Ibadan, if they excel in their senior school certificate examinations.
This was as the Foundation donated books and other relevant writing materials to the school’s new library.
While insisting that the plan to support and assist the brilliant but indigent students would be pursued with vigour and passion, the group’s co- Founder, Ambassador Sanu, also promised to build a library for the college, located in Ayegun, a community in Ibadan.
Presenting the materials during the dedication of the school hall and inauguration of the school’s Governing Board, the Chairman of the Foundation and Chairman of the Governing Council of The Polytechnic, Ibadan, Prof. Isaac Adeyemi, said the need for the children of the commoners to be educated prompted the foundation to extend the gesture.
He, therefore, appealed to the management and students of the school to make judicious use of the items, saying proper maintenance of the material swould go a long way in enabling many generations of students to use them.
The Vicar of the Church, Venerable K. A. Aremu expressed gratitude to those he described as partners, whose invaluable contributions to the growth of the college has been outstanding.
He added: “Our college, which was established on September 14, 2009 has had a modest and enviable growth till date.
Despite the space constraints there has been an ever-increasing development of facilities with the completion and dedication of the main school block on 17th September, 2015; the construction and dedication of the mini-science laboratory on 9th January, 2016 and today, we are dedicating the school hall, computer room and library for the school.
“Our space constraint at Odinjo has prompted us to commence the development of a new and more spacious site at Ayegun for the college, with the foundation of the new site laid by our Lord Bishop on 9th January 2016.
Many people thought we were going to abandon our Christ Church College, Odinjo dream, but the development we have carried out at the school and the event of today would further assure everyone of our commitment to grow the school, as well as carry the dream of the proposed Ayegun School
