Today, the City of Knowledge Academy (CKA), a co-educational private secondary school in Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State, will play host to primary school pupils ready to demonstrate their superior skills in the functional use of Information Communication Technology (ICT).
Through the ICT competition, the contestants, three from each school, will show how proficient they are in practical and quiz areas of deploying ICT. The practical aspect of the competition which carries 40 per cent of the score will cover use of the email, internet to gather information; use of word processing facilities to prepare documents; production of output in specific format, use of Microsoft Excel to create and test data models, create chats ect.
The Quiz area would examine functions of hard/software of computers; networking of information processing systems; uses and effects of ICT.
Speaking of the import of the competition at a briefing, the Head of School, Ms Abiola Lamikanra, said CKA wanted to help in strengthening the ICT knowledge of primary school pupils who will become the secondary school pupils of tomorrow.
“Because we will be bringing in children from primary schools, we said what can we do to influence the teaching of ICT in primary schools?
