The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), Prof. Benjamin Ozumba, has tasked new students admitted into the institution on the need to be guided by the classical concept of excellence, even as he assured them of his administration’s commitment to ensure that their stay in the university is pleasant and worthwhile. Ozumba gave the advice during the 44th matriculation of the university, where no fewer than 10,000 fresh students took the matriculation oath of the institution.
The event was attended by principal officers of the university, as well as parents and guardians of matriculating students. While congratulating the students, Ozumba reminded them that the matriculation was not an exercise in simplicity, but said: “The matriculation is not an exercise in simplicity.
It marks the formal admission of deserving candidates, who had been generally adjudged to have fulfilled all the requirements for admission into the university and are, therefore, qualified for registration into different academic programmes in pursuit of the proverbial Golden Fleece.”
